Trauma-Sensitive Mentoring in EvaluationWe provide mentoring sessions that integrate trauma-sensitive principles into evaluation practice. These sessions help evaluators understand how to create safe, respectful, and empowering processes for participants, while applying feminist and ethical approaches to data collection, analysis, and learning.Evaluation and Color
Evaluation and ColorWe explore how culture, identity, and lived experience shape the way evaluation is understood and practiced. These sessions invite reflection on power, representation, and decolonial thinking—encouraging evaluators to see beyond neutrality and bring color, context, and humanity into their evaluative work.Evaluation nuts and bolts
Evaluation Nuts and BoltsWe offer short, practical mentoring sessions that build foundational knowledge and hands-on skills in evaluation design, methods, and practice. These sessions are tailored for practitioners seeking concise, experience-based learning on core evaluation concepts.Decolonial Evaluation Practice
We empower displaced people and practitioners from the Global South to nurture a new kind of evaluation—one that challenges dominant paradigms, values local knowledge, and reclaims voice and power in how evidence is created and used. Our approach centers justice, reciprocity, and community-led ways of knowing.
Our Research on Evaluation A destination for transformative thinking, Global Aid Insights invites partners to experience research and evaluation from a new perspective—where feminist principles shape inquiry, localisation drives ownership and enhance insights, and lived experience leads the way. We create spaces where evidence is not just gathered, but understood, valued, and used to shape a more just and responsive world. Our research on evaluation is currently centred on the following topics:
In pursuit of our dream, we partner and lead research at the frontiers of evaluation—where the work is most urgent and the stakes are highest. We explore trauma-sensitive evaluation and conflict-aware approaches, ensuring that inquiry itself does no harm.
We engage deeply with shrinking civic spaces, amplifying the voices of those too often silenced. Our evaluations are conducted with, for, and by displaced people, and with communities who are traumatised, marginalised, or affected by violence, including sexual and gender-based violence. We push the boundaries of inclusion by centring the most vulnerable and excluded in the process. And as the evaluation landscape evolves, we critically examine the role and influence of AI—harnessing its potential while safeguarding ethics, equity, and human dignity.
Our Flagship Progrmme evaluation in 2025
Our team has led a trauma-informed evaluation with Yazidi women who survived abduction by ISIS, as well as with other displaced communities. The work was carried out by a dedicated group of local experts who combined rigorous evaluation practice with deep contextual understanding. Beyond documenting experiences, they translated the evaluation’s recommendations into practical strategies for broader community engagement, ensuring that insights are not only captured but actively shape ongoing support and recovery efforts.
Our evaluation team provides monitoring and evaluation support to the Australia Awards program in the Solomon Islands. In 2025 alone, we have produced several in-depth case studies that highlight alumni journeys, strengthen alumni engagement, and demonstrate how the program is enhancing career prospects and contributions to national development.
OUr ongoing evaluations in Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq
Our evaluation team is leading an independent, feminist, and trauma-sensitive evaluation of the Transnational Health Training and Advocacy Programme across Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The evaluation examines how the Stress- and Trauma-Sensitive Approach (STA) has been embedded in health systems, strengthened the capacity of medical professionals, and influenced survivor-centered services and advocacy. Through participatory methods, survivor stories, and institutional analysis, the evaluation generates actionable lessons for systemic change, policy uptake, and sustainable support for women and girls affected by sexual and gender-based violence.
Our Evaluation cafe
We have established a dedicated safe space that fosters meaningful engagement between displaced people and the broader host community. This space not only provides a secure and supportive environment for dialogue and healing but also serves as a platform for building trust, strengthening social cohesion, and amplifying the voices of marginalized groups. By creating opportunities for shared learning, collective action, and mutual understanding, the safe space contributes to breaking down barriers, reducing stigma, and promoting inclusive community resilience.
Café sessions are hosted both in-person and online, and participation is by invitation only. We are based in M-City, Clayton, which is home to many cafés and bars, providing an ideal setting for these gatherings.
